dr higginsDr. Mark T. Higgins graduated from the University of Missouri in 1981 with a doctorate in veterinary medicine and has been practicing veterinary medicine in Tulsa since that time. After working at Mingo Road Veterinary Hospital for several years, Dr. Higgins opened Care Animal Hospital in 1994. Several years later his wife, Dr. Betty Bassett, also a veterinarian, began practicing feline medicine here at Care Animal Hospital. In 2008, Dr. Betty Bassett retired from veterinary medicine and now focuses her attention to volunteering around the community. Dr. Higgins is committed to practicing high quality medicine by annually improving his skills with continuing education conferences and staying active in various veterinary organizations. By doing so he is able to offer the most recent and innovative treatment options for your pet. Like his wife, Dr. Higgins also enjoys working in the community and often volunteers to teach students and children about the importance of preventative pet care, proper pet ownership, and compassion for animals in schools around the Tulsa area. Dr. Higgins has two children, Emily and Brian. In his spare time, Dr. Higgins enjoys spending time with is family, playing basketball, and staying active in his church. He has two wonderful dogs, a border collie named Truman and a Chihuahua named Beanie who is a registered therapy dog and often accompanies him during his volunteer work..

Dr. Kathryn Downie actually began her career as a registered nurse, she worked for the Tulsa Heath Department after earning her nursing degree from the University of Tulsa in 2005. Later she decided to combine her love of animals with her medical knowledge. In 2012 she earned her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Oklahoma State University. In her fourth year at OSU she received the award for Outstanding Senior in Ophthalmology. Dr. Downie continues to explore ophthalmology as well as internal medicine. She also has a special interest in ultrasound procedures and feline medicine. She is a very compassionate doctor with a soft heart and a keen mind. Dr. Downie is married to Shaun, an officer in the Tulsa Police Department. Her furry family members are “Tucker” a yorkie mix, “Penny” a three legged rescue, “Timmy” a black cat, and “Winston” a silver tabby.

Dr. Angie Semple is a Tulsa native who graduated from Bishop Kelley High School before attending the University of Tulsa where she obtained her undergraduate degree. From there Dr. Semple graduated from Oklahoma State University with a doctorate in veterinary medicine in 1998. After graduation Dr. Semple worked for VCA Woodland Animal Hospital in Tulsa before moving to Houston in 2006 with her husband. In Houston, Dr. Semple was the managing veterinarian at Longwood Animal Hospital. In 2009, Dr. Semple returned to Oklahoma and began working at the Small Animal Hospital of Owasso where she has been practicing veterinary medicine for the past 7 years before coming to Care Animal Hospital in 2016. Dr. Semple has a special interest in internal medicine, surgery, and feline medicine. She is specially trained to use a veterinary laser in performing cat declaws, growth removals, spays and neuters, and various other surgical procedures. Dr. Semple is also passionate about education and serving the community, she has served as PTO President for the past three years as well as the Owasso Education Foundation Board and Grant Committee. In her free time Dr. Semple enjoys spending time with her family and going to the lake. She also loves horticulture, reading, salt water fish, and of course shuttling her kids to and from sporting events. Dr. Semple has two children, Mitchell and Kelsey, eleven and nine years old. She also has a lot of pets including a French bulldog named “Bob” and two cats “Gabby” and “Joey”. In addition, she has three poison dart frogs, a dwarf hamster, and various salt water fish.

Dr. Jennifer Pucket

Dr. Pucket graduated from Oklahoma State University in 2008 with a Doctorate inVeterinary Medicine. After graduation she practiced in Norman for 4 years and Oklahoma City for 3 years. Dr. Pucket has a special interest in ophthalmology, internal medicine, geriatric medicine, and preventative wellness care. Dr. Pucket has two dogs, a lab named Maddie and a boxer named Fenway. In her free time Dr. Pucket enjoys spending time with her family; her husband is also a veterinarian! She also enjoys running and working out when she is not chasing around her young son.
