dr higginsDr. Mark T. Higgins graduated from the University of Missouri in 1981 with a doctorate in veterinary medicine and has been practicing veterinary medicine in Tulsa since that time. After working at Mingo Road Veterinary Hospital for several years, Dr. Higgins opened Care Animal Hospital in 1994. Several years later his wife, Dr. Betty Bassett, also a veterinarian, began practicing feline medicine here at Care Animal Hospital. In 2008, Dr. Betty Bassett retired from veterinary medicine and now focuses her attention to volunteering around the community. Dr. Higgins is committed to practicing high quality medicine by annually improving his skills with continuing education conferences and staying active in various veterinary organizations. By doing so he is able to offer the most recent and innovative treatment options for your pet. Like his wife, Dr. Higgins also enjoys working in the community and often volunteers to teach students and children about the importance of preventative pet care, proper pet ownership, and compassion for animals in schools around the Tulsa area. Dr. Higgins has two children, Emily and Brian. In his spare time, Dr. Higgins enjoys spending time with is family, playing basketball, and staying active in his church. He has two wonderful dogs, a border collie named Truman and a Chihuahua named Beanie who is a registered therapy dog and often accompanies him during his volunteer work..

KDownieDr. Kathryn Downie actually began her career as a registered nurse, she worked for the Tulsa Heath Department after earning her nursing degree from the University of Tulsa in 2005. Later she decided to combine her love of animals with her medical knowledge. In 2012 she earned her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Oklahoma State University. In her fourth year at OSU she received the award for Outstanding Senior in Ophthalmology. Dr. Downie has a special interest in ultrasound and feline medicine. She performs both cardiac and abdominal ultrasounds here at Care Animal Hospital using the latest state of the art equipment. She is a very compassionate doctor with a soft heart and a keen mind. Dr. Downie is married to Shaun, an officer in the Tulsa Police Department. Her furry family members are “Tucker” a yorkie mix, “Penny” a three legged rescue, “Timmy” a black cat, and “Winston” a silver tabby.

dr sempleDr. Angie Semple is a Tulsa native who graduated from Bishop Kelley High School before attending the University of Tulsa where she obtained her undergraduate degree. From there Dr. Semple graduated from Oklahoma State University with a doctorate in veterinary medicine in 1998. After graduation Dr. Semple worked for VCA Woodland Animal Hospital in Tulsa before moving to Houston in 2006 with her husband. In Houston, Dr. Semple was the managing veterinarian at Longwood Animal Hospital. In 2009, Dr. Semple returned to Oklahoma and began working at the Small Animal Hospital of Owasso where she has been practicing veterinary medicine for the past 7 years before coming to Care Animal Hospital in 2016. Dr. Semple has a special interest in internal medicine, surgery, and feline medicine. She is specially trained to use a veterinary laser in performing cat declaws, growth removals, spays and neuters, and various other surgical procedures. Dr. Semple is also passionate about education and serving the community, she has served as PTO President for the past three years as well as the Owasso Education Foundation Board and Grant Committee. In her free time Dr. Semple enjoys spending time with her family and going to the lake. She also loves horticulture, reading, salt water fish, and of course shuttling her kids to and from sporting events. Dr. Semple has two children, Mitchell and Kelsey, eleven and nine years old. She also has a lot of pets including a French bulldog named “Bob” and two cats “Gabby” and “Joey”. In addition, she has three poison dart frogs, a dwarf hamster, and various salt water fish.

Dr. Jennifer Pucket

Dr. Pucket graduated from Oklahoma State University in 2008 with a Doctorate inVeterinary Medicine. After graduation she practiced in Norman for 4 years and Oklahoma City for 3 years. Dr. Pucket has a special interest in ophthalmology, internal medicine, geriatric medicine, and preventative wellness care. Dr. Pucket has two dogs, a lab named Maddie and a boxer named Fenway. In her free time Dr. Pucket enjoys spending time with her family; her husband is also a veterinarian! She also enjoys running and working out when she is not chasing around her young son.

kristiKristi graduated from OSU in 2005 with a bachelor’s degree in business management and a minor in marketing. She is our practice manager and began working here 2006. She has two rescued dogs, a pit bull mix named Ava and a boxer mix named Dora. She also has a very feisty cat named Mia. In her free time, Kristi enjoys reading, hiking, and taking her two dogs for long walks outside.

mistiMisti is our Client Care Coordinator. She is involved with all aspects of the hospital to ensure clients receive the best customer service possible. She started working here in April of 2005 after moving from her home town of Mineola, Texas. She loves Chihuahuas and has one of her own named Gracie. She also has a Maltese mix named Mellie as well as a Cavalier mix named Quimby. Misti loves everything Texas, including the Texas Longhorns, but we don’t hold that against her:) Her hobbies include crocheting, cooking, and reading.

lydiaLydia, R.V.T, has worked at Care Animal Hospital since May 2010. She began working here as an intern for the veterinary technician program at Tulsa Community College, then after completing her internship we hired her on as a technician at Care Animal Hospital. Lydia graduated from TCC in May, 2011 with an Associates in Applied Science and Veterinary Technology. In her free time Lydia enjoys working out at the gym, crossfit, hiking, and skiing. Currently Lydia has three dogs, a Great Dane mix rescued from the shelter named Bex, a rescued Pit Bull named Dubs, and an American Bully named Gus.

nancyNancy, R.V.T, began working at Care Animal Hospital in May 2012 after graduating from the TCC veterinary technician program with an Associates in Applied Science and Veterinary Technology. Nancy enjoys horseback riding, spending time outdoors, and singing. She has a mixed breed dog named Jax and a border collie mix named Sydney. Nancy also has two cats, Mr. McFluffmuffin and Wesa. Nancy and her husband have one child, a son named John Robert.

brandy1Brandy Rose, RVT, is originally from Oregon, but lived in California for several years while she attended college at Western Career College. She earned her associates degree in Science in 1998. After graduation she moved to Reno, Nevada where she worked at a veterinary hospital specializing in dentistry and developed her skills in dentistry and anesthesia. She is currently specialized in veterinary anesthesia and moving towards specializing in veterinary ultrasound as well. Brandy moved to Oklahoma in 2011 and began working at Care Animal Hospital in February of 2016. Brandy loves Oklahoma and particularly loves our famous thunder storms! She has two dogs, “Johnny” a 5 year old labradoodle and “Shelly” a Labrador pit bull mix who is a huge cuddler! She also has love bird named “Peaches”. In her free time Brandy enjoys watching the Oklahoma City Thunder, OU, and the NFL games with her boyfriend. She also loves taking her dogs on long runs outside.

brandy1Karen, has been with Care Animal Hospital since early 2016. She graduated from Oklahoma State University in 2005 with a bachelor’s degree in English Education. However, Karen decided she wanted to follow her love for animals and work in veterinary medicine. She began working a feline only veterinary hospital in late 2005, but ultimately missed working with dogs too much and started working at a small animal practice servicing both dogs and cats a few years later. Karen still maintains a special interest in feline medicine and even helped Care Animal Hospital become “Certified Feline Friendly!” Karen has two dogs, a dachshund named Sabrina and a mixed named Sasha. She also has two cats, Katniss and Andy. Last but not least she also has a mini pig named Dave. In her free time Karen enjoys spending time with her husband, readying, traveling, and going to concerts as often as possible.

robertRobert is our technician assistant and has worked at Care Animal Hospital since 2009. He loves working with animals and you can frequently see him playing with various pets outside the clinic in the play yard. Robert has one dog, a Lhasa Apso named Casey (pictured here). In his free time, Robert enjoys spending his days outside camping, hiking, or doing any outdoor activities.

victoriaVictoria began working here in August 2015 as a technician assistant. She has two rescue dogs that she adores, a lab/pit mix named Capone and another lab mix named Shiloh. Victoria also recently got engaged! In her free time she enjoys spending time with her fiancé and family, swimming, and fishing. She also loves music and tries to go to as many concerts and music festivals as possible.”

caseyCasey began working at Care Animal Hospital in May of 2013, she works Monday-Friday and every other Saturday. Casey loves both dogs and cats, she has an american bulldog named Kamia and two rescue cats named Leo and Tanner. Casey loves fishing and four wheeling, she also has three human kids and in her free time she enjoys spending time with them:)

kaylaKayla is our morning kennel technician. She started here in June 2013 and loves all things animals! In her free time Kayla enjoys anything science related, camping, art, and reading. She is currently taking classes at TCC and hopes to study Archeology! Kayla has two rescue cats named Dingus and Navi.

brittanyBrittany is our afternoon kennel technician. She started working here in April 2015 while she attends Rhema Bible College. She is currently a sophmore and hopes to graduate and begin ministry in 2017. In her free time Brittany enjoys playing basketball, bible study, working out, and spending time with friends and family.
